The Executive Council (EXCO) of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) has approved the appointment of Comrades Samuel Erhunwunse of the Correspondents Chapel, and Emeka Chukwujindu of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Chapel, both in Asaba, as ex-officio 1 and 2 respectively of the EXCO.
The Chairman of NUJ in the state, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu announced this as one of the decisions reached during the maiden meeting of the EXCO, held today, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the temporary Press Centre of the union in Asaba, the state capital.
He said that due considerations were taken before the approval of the duo for the positions in the EXCO, noting that necessary moves were already on to ensure the actualisation of bringing greater development of the union in the state, just as he enjoined members of the union in the state and beyond to support his administration so as to meet up with their aspirations.
Comrade Erhunwunse was a former secretary of the Asaba Correspondents Chapel and the Ex-officio 2 during the first term of Comrade Ikeogwu as chairman of the council, while Comrade Chukwujindu also served as a former chairman of the DBS Chapei in Asaba.
Meanwhile Comrade Ikeogwu has congratulated Comrade Ovuozuorie Macaulay as he clocks 60 years.
Comrade Ikeogwu described Comrade Macaulay as the pathway to the present position of the union in the state, noting that as the pioneer chairman of the union who rose through the leaderships of the union and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to occupy strategic political positions in the state government, comrade Macaulay had not only been a stabilising factor in the NUJ in the state and beyond, but serves as a shining model for Journalists in the state and beyond.
The council chairman prayed God to continue to give Comrade Macaulay good financial wherewithal, excellent health and the enablement towards the actualisation of his burning desire to uplift humanity.
