Political Leaders from across the nine Local Government Areas of Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State gathered on Thursday at the residence of Rt. Hon. Peter Owunsanya, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly to further harmonize and sensitize members of the People’s Democratic Party towards winning the forthcoming general elections.
Gathering under the auspices of Delta Unity Group, the leaders composed of founding members of the PDP stated that they had declared their support for Olorogun David Edevbie as the Governorship candidate of the party, pointing out that his declaration by the court remains valid unless and until there is a contrary order.
They called on members to work steadfastly for the victory of all candidates of the party, especially David Edevbie and the Atiku/Okowa Presidential ticket.
Speaking at the meeting, Rt. Hon. Peter Owunsanya noted that the opposition was waiting eagerly to take advantage of any error made by the PDP to seize power and, as leaders of the party, they cannot not sit back and watch the state slide into the hands of the opposition.
“It is time for all hands to be on deck in preaching the Edevbie gospel to every nook and cranny of the state.”
Adding voice, Rt. Hon. Olisa Imegwu, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, stated that as founding leaders of the PDP, it had become necessary to make a bold statement about happenings in the party, noting that “all founding leaders must come out to ensure that the party they built together is not destroyed.”
Hon. Larry Ezechi, a former Vice Chairman of Ndokwa East also added that in as much as there is a litigation over the Governorship candidacy, the party is united and is ready to win the general elections.
The convener of the David Edevbie Movement’23, Comr. Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola who was at the meeting also stated that with the judicial pronouncement by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, Olorogun David Edevbie remains the valid and only candidate of the PDP.
“It is time for all stakeholders of the party to rally round him to ensure the party comes out victorious at the general elections.”
