The Delta State government, as part of measures being taken to deliver on the Stronger Delta Agenda, by building a technologically driven economy, has embarked on a six-day on-site inspection of the technical colleges under construction across the 25 (twenty-five) local government areas of the state.
The Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Shola Daibo, who led the team on the inspection tour to the sites at Asaba, Effurun, Obiaruku, Akugbene, Irri, Orerokpe, Oghara and Omadino, stated that the aim of the inspection visit was to ascertain their completion status as well as ensure that they were being built to specification.

She expressed satisfaction at the level of work being done. She however registered her disapproval at the pace of work in some sites, even as she admonished the contractors in charge of those projects to intensify their efforts.
Daibo said she was optimistic that the Asaba, Effurrun and Obiaruku colleges would soon kick off academic activities, even as others are getting set to follow suit.
Speaking further, the Technical Education Commissioner lauded Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa on his giant strides in promoting technical education in the state.
She added that his administration was making efforts to fulfill its promise of building at least one technical college in each of the twenty-five (25) local government areas in the state with efforts being underway to upgrade the already existing six.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Moses Bragiwa, reiterated that the Asaba, Efurrun and Obiaruku colleges would soon be set for use, as they were already at their various finishing stages.
According to him, the classrooms have already been furnished with chairs and desks while the machines and other equipment have been installed in the workshops.
He also added that the hostel beds and bunks have been made available, hence, the three were set for kick off.
It could be recalled that earlier in April 2022, the Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Ovie Agas, the Technical Education commissioner and a team also embarked on an on-site inspection of the Asaba, Effurun and Obiaruku colleges sites.
