The Commissioner for Science and Technology in Delta State, Mrs. Jennifer Adasen Efeviroro, has assured participants of this year’s lCT Youth Empowerment Programme ( YEP), that starter packs will be distributed soon to enable them to set in motion their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs, thus justifying the Okowa administration’s huge investment.
Reacting to insinuations that the graduating participants, who started the program with a Computer Based Test (CBT), in February 2021, long before her appointment in August of this year, should rest assured that they will soon heave a sigh of relief.
While nursing fears that they would not get starter packs, the Science and Technology Commissioner allayed their fears, assuring them that they will soon heave a sigh of relief once the necessary documentation processes are completed.
Mrs. Jennifer Oma Adasen Efeviroro revealed that since his Excellency the Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa approved the lCT YEP program whose screening commenced in February 2021 and training for successful applicants commenced almost immediately after the list of successful candidates was released, there is no iota of truth that the program will suffer hiccups.
She appealed to those agitating to be calm as final modalities, in line with due process of release of funds, is being followed, stressing that the hiccup could have been occasioned by the dissolution of the erstwhile state executive council where her predecessor under whose watch the program was birthed, did not make it back to the state executive council.
“Upon my assumption honorable commissioner for science and technology”, Mrs. Adasen Efeviroro said, “l was duly briefed by my top management on the status of the program, and l have since written a memo to that effect. Very soon, the beneficiaries will be smiling with their starter packs and any other benefits that accrue to them. His Excellency does not start what he can’t finish, that l can assure them.”
The Science and Technology Commissioner, Mrs. Jennifer Adasen Efeviroro, therefore, advised those using the participants to score cheap political points to desist from cheap blackmail and seek other meaningful ways to eke out a livelihood, as the starter pack issue will soon be a thing of the past, to their shame and disgrace.
