Office of the Head of Service, Delta State has commenced the conduct of the 2024 promotion interview for 1,300 eligible officers due to be promoted into senior management positions of the Civil Service, with a clarion call on civil servants to continue to reflect on the core values of the Civil Service.
The Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Reginald Bayoko made the call while addressing the candidates at the commencement of the promotion exercise, on-going at the Conference Hall, Office of the Head of Service during the week.
Mr. Bayoko who reminded civil servants in the State that they were the backbone and beacon of the service, said that the promotion exercise was beyond access not just to rank elevation, but an avenue to recognize and appreciate them for their devotion and commitment to the development of the service.
While enjoining civil servants to uphold the core ethos of the service by shunning all forms of conduct inimical to the well-being and corporate image of the service, the Delta HoS challenged them to prove wrong the negative perceptions, held in some quarters that civil servants were “evil servants.”, saying that such negative perceptions were not true reflection of the attributes of civil servants.
He urged civil servants to focus on the MORE agenda of the Rt. Hon (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, and emphasized the need for them to remain loyal and dedicated, stressing that loyalty and dedication were critical and pivotal to service delivery.
Mr. Bayoko who underscored the principle of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership as ministerial codes that must be upheld at all times, challenged civil servants in the state to be good ambassadors of the service.
Speaking with some of the candidates who exuded high spirit and optimism, they thanked the Head of Service for the prompt conduct of the promotion interview held for the first time in January, adding that the interview was a precursor to the next level of their exciting career.
The respondents poured encomium on the HoS for his proactiveness and positive direction that has lifted the spirits of civil servants towards excellent service delivery.
They lauded the State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori for being workers friendly even as they promised to reciprocate the gesture with loyalty and absolute dedication to their duties.
