The Delta State Government has started responding and fulfilling the pledged support for accident victims who have keyed into the State Passengers’ Welfare Scheme.
While presenting the cheque to the victims’ families on behalf of the Delta Passengers’ Welfare Scheme, the Commissioner for Transport urged Deltans and other residents of the state to embrace the Scheme, which he said was designed to protect travellers from the unexpected in any part of the country, so long as the commercial transport company was registered with the scheme and operated from Delta State.
According to Ganagana “only those who have keyed into the scheme with registered commercial transport company operating from Delta State would be compensated”.
In his remarks, Engr. Lawrence Egogo, the Consultant to the Delta State Government on the Passengers’ Welfare Scheme, stated that the Scheme was fully determined to compensate accident victims within and outside Delta State.
Egogo, who is the Managing Director of Calf-time Global Concept Ltd, encouraged transporters to key into the Scheme, assuring that it was on ground to ensure the welfare to passengers.
Also speaking, Mike Oriri, Manager, Libra Motors, Warri, who received the cheque on behalf of the management of the transport company and the accident victims, commended the handlers of the Passengers’ Welfare Scheme and the Delta State Government for their quick response and advised other transport companies operating in the state to embrace the Scheme for the good of their passengers.
