The Banquet Hall of Government House, Asaba, was aglow on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, as Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, the wife of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, hosted a vibrant End-of-Year Get-Together for the wives of traditional rulers and market women from across the state.
Addressing the distinguished audience, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and warmly welcomed her guests. She emphasized the administration’s commitment to empowering women, acknowledging their vital roles in sustaining the state’s economy and cultural heritage.
“It is with a heart full of joy and gratitude to God that I welcome you to this special gathering. Your presence, particularly the Queen Mothers gracing this event for the first time, has added immense color and significance,” she remarked.
The First Lady highlighted her foundation’s achievements, noting the support provided to over 1,000 petty traders this year. She commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for their unwavering backing of initiatives aimed at uplifting market women.
“This gesture underscores that you truly matter to this administration, and we look forward to an even better partnership in the coming years,” she said, urging the women to remain intentional in their businesses and relationships with customers.
In her remarks, Mrs. Catherine Onyeme, Wife of the Deputy Governor of Delta State, lauded Deaconess Oborevwori for her visionary leadership and dedication to improving the lives of women. She encouraged attendees to stay steadfast in their endeavors while extending prayers for a prosperous new year.
