The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has decorated Ejiroghene Obiuwevbi Adegor, a newly promoted Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), and 19 others with their new ranks.
The event was graced by the officers’ spouses, relatives, and friends, including colleagues on Tuesday, 17th September, 2024, at the Conference Hall, Police State Command Headquarters, Okpanam road, Asaba.
Decorating the newly-elevated ACP in Delta Police Command at a ceremony, CP Abaniwonda, who described her promotion as well deserved and a reward for her dedication and commitment to duties, noted that the promotions were well-deserved, that promotion, like other previous ones under the Force leadership, was guided by the principles of seniority and merit. It also took due cognizance of the unblemished service records and invaluable experiences of the benefiting officers.
ACP Ejiroghene Obiuwevbi Adegor is a University of Benin trained Philosopher, who hailed from Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. She was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 2002 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), and was promoted from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, while others were promoted from the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) by the Police Service Commission.
Before her last promotion, she served as Officer in Charge of Anti-Human Trafficking at SCID Asaba, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘B’ Division Asaba, and currently Officer in Charge of Gender Violence Desk (GVD) SCID Asaba.
CP Abaniwonda was assisted by ACP Ejiroghene Obiuwevbi Adegor’s spouse, MacPherson Adegor, a Director in Delta State Civil Service, in decorating his wife with her new rank of ACP.
Speaking shortly after decorating her and other promoted officers, the CP noted that the promotion for service was a product of diligence and commitment to duty, urging the decorated officers to see the new feat as a springboard to further hard work.
“I am happy that your sacrifice has been rewarded with promotion to your next rank which is a challenge to continue your good works and even perform better. Always try to be God fearing and honest because there is nothing better than honesty in life. Be straightforward in whatever you do and God will make you shine more in your career.” CP Abaniwonda stated.
Promotion is a critical administrative instrument for elevating and repositioning competent personnel towards the attainment of critical internal security mandates.
Spade Nigeria News gathered that indeed, the continuous identification and promotion of deserving and qualified personnel of the Force remains one of the cardinal agendas of the leadership. This is because of the authority’s conviction that promotion serves two key purposes in the Nigeria Police as in other organisations. First, it is a reward for service excellence and a motivational initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ACP Ejiroghene Obiuwevbi Adegor who thanked the CP for performing the decoration ceremony, promised that the newly promoted officer would be more committed to their duties to justify their new ranks and also add more value to the Police and service to their nation.
She thanked God for their elevation.
