As part of efforts to reduce restiveness in society, the Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW) Unit under the Delta CARES Program has engaged 1077 youth in Bomadi.
The beneficiaries, comprising of unemployed and unskilled youth and women between the age of 18 and 45 with senior secondary certificates and were selected from the State Social Register (SSR) received from the State Operation Coordinating Unit (SOCU) in the Ministry of Economic Planning.
Engr. Chukwuka Ojei, Technical Head of the LIPW Unit, revealed that community leaders and stakeholders were sensitized on the importance of engaging their people.
He noted that beneficiaries receive a monthly stipend of N15,000 for one year while engaging in minor works like sweeping and vegetation control of public places.
The Technical Head also disclosed that they must provide their own bank account for payment or have one open for them if they don’t have one.
Bomadi Federated Community Chairman, Barr. Possibility Teibogiren praised the program for bringing peace and succour to the people, noting that the monthly stipend boosts economic activities.
The community chairman acknowledged that the SSR submitted to them had over 4,000 beneficiaries, but only 1077 met the requirements and were engaged.
Barr. Teibogiren thanked the Governor for this laudable program and urged its sustainability for the overall benefit of Deltans.
