The Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW) Unit of Delta CARES recently visited Umueze Community in Oshimili South Local Government Area to engage youths in public works projects.
The Technical Head, Engr Chukwuka Ojei, said they are here train beneficiaries, provide working tools for them, on how to do their work, and deploy them to the various sites.
Engr. Ojei urged beneficiaries to render quality services during their 12 month of engagement, stating that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to providing more opportunities for Deltans through this program and other programs across the state.
He revealed that the Unit had initially engaged some communities in the local government area such as; Umuaji, Umuonaje, Ugbomata, Umuagu, Cable point, Westend, Okwe, Oko-Anala, Oko- Amakon and Oko- Ogbele communities.
The Technical Head emphasized that the initiative will empower youths to contribute meaningfully to their community’s development, ‘We expect your dedication and hard work in return for the governor’s support.’
He went further to say that the program aimed to provide employment opportunities for youth and foster community engagement and development to reduce restiveness, saying ‘Delta CARES remains committed to improving lives through sustainable initiatives.’
