The Community Driven Development Social Implementation Unit (CDDSIU) under the Delta CARES Program has successfully rehabilitated the Primary Health Care Centre in Onyah community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, so as to tackle healthcare challenges in rural communities.
Responding to the community’s plea for improved healthcare facilities, the rehabilitation project was initiated by leaders after the former facility became dilapidated, unkept, and unfit for use.
During a needs assessment exercise by the office, the community members expressed their interest for a renovated health centre and staff quarters to ensure timely medical attention and reduce mortality rates among their people.
Mr. Morgan Uzor, Chairman of the Community Project Management Committee, expressed the community’s enthusiasm for the completion of the facility by the government, stating that it has brought hope to the people and eliminated the need to travel far distances for healthcare.
He revealed that the renovated facility will benefit not only the Onyah community but also neighbouring communities.
The chairman thanked the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for this kind gesture and expressed the gratitude of his people while pledging on behalf of them to protect and utilize the facility for the well-being of all.
This project showcases the Delta CARES Program’s commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for Deltans.
