The Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disassociated itself from an unauthorized presentation made by Chief Paulinus Akpeki, the Vice Chairman of Delta Central Senatorial District. Chief Akpeki reportedly received a report from the Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee on behalf of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Party, an act the party described as a usurpation of authority.
In a statement signed by the Acting Chairman of the Delta State APC, Chief Francis Obigbor, the party emphasized that Chief Akpeki lacked the authority to receive or present any report to the National Chairman or the National Working Committee (NWC). Obigbor condemned Akpeki’s actions as a deliberate attempt to sow confusion within the party.
“We categorically state that Chief Akpeki has no authority to receive any report or present same before the National Chairman. His actions are a clear usurpation of power and a deliberate attempt to cause confusion within the party,” the statement read.
The Delta APC called on the National Chairman and the NWC to disregard the report and any related actions by Chief Akpeki. The party also appealed to its members and stakeholders to remain calm and not be distracted by what it described as an unauthorized move.
Chief Obigbor further clarified his position as Acting Chairman, stating that he would continue to oversee party affairs until Elder Omeni Sobotie resumes his role. He affirmed his commitment to receiving the O’Tega Emerhor committee’s report and ensuring it undergoes thorough deliberation by the State Working Committee, State Caucus, and State Executive Committee before any further action is taken.
The party reiterated its focus on unity and urged members to stand firm as it navigates these internal challenges.
