In a bold move, Chief Francis I. Obigbor, Acting Chairman of the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC), has presented an Alternate Report of the Olorogun O’tega Emerhor-led Reconciliation Committee to the National Leadership of the APC in Abuja.

The Alternate Report disputes the Majority Report of the Reconciliation Committee, highlighting significant concerns over the committee’s legality, transparency, and effectiveness in addressing internal party issues. Chief Obigbor’s report criticizes the committee’s formation, citing conflicts of interest, lack of grassroots engagement, and procedural shortcomings.
Key disagreements center on the Majority Report’s recommendation to establish a council of leaders across all levels of the party structure, which the Alternate Report describes as unconstitutional and harmful to party unity. In contrast, the Alternate Report proposes reforms aimed at fostering inclusivity, accountability, and transparency within the Delta State APC.
Comprehensive recommendations in the Alternate Report include:
Regular meetings of party organs.
Conducting free, fair, and transparent congresses.
Rebuilding the party and analyzing the outcomes of the 2023 elections.
Enhanced grassroots engagement.
Increased federal government empowerment for APC members.
Formation of a new, unbiased reconciliation committee.
The Alternate Report bears the signatures of nine out of 21 committee members, including the Deputy State Chairman, and has garnered wide support from key stakeholders. These endorsers include:
The State Secretary and members of the State Working Committee.
Six out of seven APC members of the Delta State House of Assembly.
16 State Executive Committee members.
24 out of 25 LGA APC chairmen and all 25 LGA secretaries.
Prominent leaders such as Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, two former speakers of the Delta State House of Assembly, and several federal commissioners and former state officials.
This development highlights the ongoing struggle for cohesion within the Delta State APC, as the party seeks to resolve internal conflicts and chart a united path forward.
Signed:
Chief Francis I. Obigbor, Esq.
Acting Chairman, Delta State APC
