The Delta State Chairman of the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC), Hon. Justice Godwin Obriki – Okolosi has said that the merit award as the best performing new state on Administration of Criminal Justice for 2021/2022 at the 2nd Annual Conference of ACJMC is an indication that the State was in the right direction in the area of Administration of Criminal Justice delivery.
Hon. Justice Okolosi , who stated this in an exclusive interview with journalists in Asaba , attributed the award to the commitment of the stakeholders.
He said that the performances of the committee towards the work of the ACJ law as well as its passage into law by Delta State House of Assembly which was awaiting the Governor’s accent among other factors contributed in earning the State the award.
Hon. Justice Okolosi stated that since their committee came on board among other new states , national indices was used to measure his committee’s activities.
He noted that since the inauguration of the committee, it had worked assiduously to enhance justice delivery in the state.
The Legal Icon , also said that their efforts had resulted in the reduction of the number of awaiting trial cases in the state, adding that to a very large extent, the Police was mainly responsible for the delay in trial cases.
Hon. Justice Okolosi who noted that members of the committee , that were carefully selected from the legal sector, security and Civil Society Organisations, stressed that the committee’s source of finance was stipulated in the laws establishing it .
