The controversy surrounding the misguided attack on the ministry of Science and Technology over delay in presentation of starter packs to participants of the Delta information Communication Technology Youth Empowerment Programme (lCT __YEP) for 2021 has been finally laid to rest with the announcement by the State government that the items are due for collection by successful participants from January 24th 2022.
The commencement of the exercise , according to the government special announcement which was dated 14th January, 2022, is to accommodate beneficiaries from Delta North at the Unity hall of Government house, Asaba from 10 am prompt on the slated 24th January 2022.
Thereafter , beneficiaries from Delta Central will take their turn at the Government house annex, Warri , on the 26th January 2022 , at 10.30 am prompt, while those from Delta South will follow suit on the 28th January 2022 , at the same venue and time.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah , the distribution of the starter packs to beneficiaries will be conducted across the three senatorial districts of the state , from the 24th through the 28th of January.
It will be recalled that the Delta State information and Communication Technology Youth Empowerment Programme was held at the state innovation hub from May to September 2021.
The statement further adds that for the sake of clarity , beneficiaries from the various local governments that make up their senatorial districts , should converge at their designated venues with valid means of identification such as National ldentity cards, Drivers license as well as international passports, emphasizing collection by proxy will not be entertained.
In a swift reaction , the Commissioner for Science and Technology , Mrs Jennifer Oma Adasen Efeviroro , assured beneficiaries that the exercise which is dear to the heart of Governor lfeanyi Okowa , would be conducted in a well organized way. She therefore admonished them to follow all laid down guidelines for collection of their starter packs, as no one who participated in the programme ,will be left out
