In a heartwarming celebration of love and unity, Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei, founder of DAO Foundation, alongside her husband, Major General Raymond Ochei, hosted the annual Children’s Christmas Carnival at Ugba Primary School, Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State. The event brought joy to the lives of many children while emphasizing the importance of values and community support.
The carnival, themed “Grooming Children for Royalty,” featured vibrant cultural dances, fashion parades, and quiz competitions. It attracted dignitaries, including Hon. Emma Chinye Basim, Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, and other notable personalities.
Welcoming attendees, Dr. Doris Ochei expressed her profound love for children, rooted in her personal journey of waiting for motherhood for 11 years. “This event is about creating cherished memories. Our aim is to fill this day with laughter, games, and warmth, ensuring that every child experiences the magic and wonders of Christmas,” she said.
She highlighted the foundation’s mission to instill values such as honesty, dignity of labor, and respect, which she believes modern civilization often neglects. “DAO Foundation is committed to reversing the erosion of these values through programs that empower children to become leaders of integrity,” Dr. Ochei added.
Major General Raymond Ochei, the foundation’s patron, praised his wife for her unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes. “My wife has demonstrated remarkable compassion and commitment to the welfare of the less privileged. This carnival reflects the true spirit of Christmas—love, unity, and the joy of sharing,” he remarked.
Children who attended the carnival received various gifts and participated in activities aimed at fostering self-esteem and character development. Daniela Ochei, representing the children of the foundation, described the day as one of “joy, laughter, and purpose,” urging her peers to embrace their unique potentials and lead with values and character.
Community leaders like Sir Patrick Ejido, President General of Onicha-Olona Development Union, commended DAO Foundation’s efforts not only for the carnival but also for its contributions to infrastructure, healthcare, and women empowerment within the community.
Through its initiatives, including market reconstruction, classroom construction, and support for healthcare centers, DAO Foundation continues to transform lives, spreading the message of hope and empowerment.
