The Director General Warri, Uwvie and Environs Special Area Development Agency(WUEDA)Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay has advised the elderly to maintain high personal hygiene, wash their hands with soap and water as well as observe the social distance at all times.
Comrade Macaulay, a former Secretary to the Delta State Government, said the stay at home order directive by the state government was part of efforts to reduce the spread of the virus, as contact tracing was still in full force.
He advised Deltans to be their brothers keeper in times like this as government cannot do it alone hence the need for all to show love and support those who are economically weak in the society during the covid 19 lockdown.
” Everybody is crying government, it is human beings that form government. I believe if we leave this fight alone for government, there will be chaos. Some of us that God has blessed should pull out resources and begin to spread it. I have been doing this since day three of the lockdown. I started from my community and local government. I have been going to other homes, sending things through individuals, community leaders to reach out to people.”
The Chairmen of Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Councils, Honourable Ramson Onoyake and Honourable (Dr) Michael Tidi thanked the Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Speecial Areas Development Agency, for reaching out to people in their local government Councils saying that the donation will in no small measure alleviate the hunger occasioned by the corona virus pandemic which led to the shutdown in the state.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay for the food items and cash that were given to them stressing that it has brought hope to them and prayed God to bless him.
