Executive Assistant on Communications to Delta State Governor, and member of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals in Nigeria, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that governor Sheriff Oborevwori is adhering strictly to democratic principles and rule of law, and will continue to be neutral in the ongoing local government councils electioneering process in the state.
Oghenesivbe made the assertion on Friday at a national radio interview in obvious swift reaction to a trending misleading claim on social media platforms by a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who illogically and mischievously alleged that youths of Anioma nation were sidelined in the ongoing local council electioneering process under governor Oborevwori as the party leader in the state.
He noted that Delta is currently experiencing full blown democracy under the visionary leadership of governor Oborevwori, adding that the governor at several political engagements with leaders and stakeholders of PDP in Delta Central, Delta North and Delta South Senatorial Districts emphasized the need for a transparent, free and fair party primaries to ensure that only credible and popular aspirants with implementable and people focused agenda emerged as PDP candidates.
Oghenesivbe who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation Bureau, assured that governor Oborevwori will neither be moved nor distracted by any form of “notice me” propaganda, especially when such negative outburst emanates from political detractors, and traceable to selfish personal interests, self inflicted frustrations and implied regrets occasioned by biased reasoning devoid of political strategy.
He said Delta, especially Anioma youths will not unnecessarily align themselves with a handful of former party members who are promoting politics of bitterness, especially in the face of visible good governance in all sectors of the state economy, as can be seen from the proactive and visionary leadership of governor Oborevwori within one year in office and counting.
“It is not true that Anioma youths were sidelined in the ongoing council electioneering process, and Delta under the leadership of governor Oborevwori is experiencing full blown democracy in accordance with universal democratic principles.
“Governor Oborevwori is neutral and shall continue to be neutral in the ongoing council electioneering process.
“It is foreseeable that PDP and her candidates will win all 25 local government councils in the state, due to the enviable performances of the governor and immediate past council Chairmen.
“It is laughable, and at the same time repugnant to natural justice and good conscience for any right thinking individual to say that Delta is experiencing monarchical system of government under governor Sheriff Oborevwori, because o his or herf selfish personal interest.
“The state governor consistently emphasized the need for stakeholders and leaders of the party to insist on free and transparent party primaries across board, to ensure that the most credible and popular aspirants emerge as candidates of the party, having in mind that the opposition parties are also stakeholders in the electioneering process.
“Anioma youths are politically informed, and shall not be moved by unwanted calls for political rebellion within PDP, as impliedly suggested by the former member of the party in his agenda setting proposal that will never see the light of day in the state.
“Youths of Delta State are solidly behind governor Oborevwori. They are the major stakeholders and beneficiaries in the ongoing implementation of the MORE agenda of this administration.
“Delta State will continue to take the lead as a role model in democratic values and principles, promoting youth participation in governance as can be seen from the deliberate appointments of qualified youths as Commissioners and Special Advisers by governor Oborevwori, well known as a core Democrat with street credibility,” Oghenesivbe assured.
