The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North LGA, Hon. Innocent Esewezie took the *KNOW YOUR RIDER CAMPAIGN* to Okpanam Axis, where he was welcomed by the Divisional Police Officer of Okpanam, CSP Gambo Ado and Mr Joseph Okolie, also known as “Onyeami”, Chairman Association of Okada/Keke Riders in Oshimili North LGA
The campaign, which was geared at establishing a friendly and secured base for riders and inhabitants of Okpanam, poised at discouraging vices, ranging from Kidnap, theft and other nefarious activities perpetrated by motorcyclist, where efficiently nipped on the board.
While sensitizing riders present, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, harped on the need for motorcycle operators to wear the aprons that will be freely given to them for proper identification, as strict measures will be taken on defaulters who refuse to wear their aprons, stating, that there will be full enforcement of taskforce personnel, who will ensure compliance.
In furtherance to keeping the local Government safe, Hon Innocent Esewezie, informed those present, that his administration will embark on another exercise, tagged “KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOUR”, to check criminal activities bedeviling our communities, as proactive measures will be put in place to check the constant influx of person migrating into various towns within the Local Government, availing residents, a crime free society.
In a similar vein, CSP Gambo advised the riders against handing over their bikes and aprons to other persons as any crime committed by such persons would be traced to them using the apron identification number in the registration process
The Chairman of the Okada Riders Association in Oshimili North LGA, Mr. Mr Joseph Okolie, thanked the council Chairman for this innovative gesture of securing lives and properties in Oshimili North and assured him that the riders would comply.
Recall that few months ago, this process was successfully implemented in Ibusa, where all Okada riders had a vest and tracking number, as vital information, that pertains to each rider, where saved on a data base, to monitor activities of motorcyclist.
