The Attorney-General and Commissioner For Justice, Delta State Isaiah Bozimo Esq has described the use of construction contract agreements as an important determinant for effective delivery of Infrastructural projects in the State.
Mr. Bozimo stated this in Asaba while declaring open, a one -day Capacity building Workshop organised by the State Ministry of Justice for Directors, Zonal Unit Heads of the Ministry and other stakeholders in relevant MDAs saddled with the responsibility of awarding contracts.
He Stated that it was imperative for MDAs involved in awarding contracts to be properly equipped with the requisite knowledge and tenets of contract drafting.
The Attorney-General further noted that construction projects forms a larger proportion of Infrastructural development projects in Delta State hence the importance of the training.
While urging participants at the workshop to take the training seriously, Mr. Bozimo advised them to ensure that they put the knowledge gained at the workshop into effective use in the performance of their jobs.
In their separate remarks, some of the resource persons including Mr Nathan Searle of Hogan Lovells, Solicitors London, Mr Ngo-Martins Okonmah ,Aluko and Oyebode stated that the training was designed to provide stakeholders in construction contacts with good knowledge of contract drafting in line with the best practices.
They said that Delta State was already committed to the development of infrastructural facilities, stressing that the Training would equip the participants well in their service to the State.
Some of the Participants who Spoke to newsmen, Mrs Rita Ekpemina including Mr Moses Agwere , lauded the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaiah Bozimo for the initiative, adding that the training was apt .
They said that the workshop would impact on infrastructural development of the State even as they reiterated that the capacity building would save the State Government unnecessary embarrassment from wrong contract drafting.
