The Delta North Citizens For Good Governance (DNCFGG) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu to stop including Senator Peter Nwaoboshi in it’s list as the All
Progressives Congress Candidate for Delta North Senatorial District.
The Coordinator of the Forum, Chief Onwuka Mordi Stated this on Tuesday when speaking to journalists in Asaba, Delta State Capital.
According to the Coordinator, INEC’s continuous parading of Nwaoboshi as APC’s Senatorial Candidate for Delta North Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2023 election is a misnomer and an aberration because of his conviction and sentence by the Federal Appeal Court sitting in Lagos.
It could be recalled that a Federal Appeal Court sitting in Lagos on July 2022 convicted and sentenced Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Seven years imprisonment for money Laundering.
He said that Nwaoboshi’s case should not be swept under the carpet as there is same recent scenerio concerning Dr. Doyin Okupe.
” Dr. Doyin Okupe resigned his appointment as Peter Obi’s Campaign Director-General (DG) of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organization (LPPCO) after being convicted of money laundering by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja” Said the Coordinator.
Continuing, the Chief noted ” If Okupe could tow the honourable part, why can’t Nwaoboshi copy from the example”.
The INEC Chairman according to Mordi should do the needful by deleting Nwaoboshi’s name as Senatorial Candidate in its list as no Nigerian is above the law of our Land.
The Coordinator said that the citizens of Delta North also known as Anioma Nation should not fold their alms and watch INEC toy with their destinies.
He said further,
“Where is INEC’s promise of free and fair elections to Nigerians? We are ready to use all civilized means to make sure that the wrong is corrected”.
