Community Based Organisations in the state have been urged to redouble their efforts in assisting government to provide seamless health delivery services to the people.
The chairman of the Delta State Advocacy Team (SAT) Pastor Greg Sifo stated this during the state monthly coordination meeting with members of community based Organisations (CBO) executing the Covid-19 Response Mechanism and Resilient and Sustainable System for Health Strengthening and Community Strengthening System ( C19RM/RSSH-CSS).
Pastor Sifo thanked members of the CBOs for their commitment thus far in creating awareness and sensitisation about the negative effects of malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDs, gender based Violence and Human Rights issues in the society.
However, he urged them to redouble their efforts and strategies in the discharge of this multiple assignments, saying a lot of people are suffering and dying by the day at home and in the hospital through negligence, ignorance, lack of vital information, lack if fund, lack of drugs, bad water, irregular power supply in the health centres and unavailabiity of appropriate and adequate medical practitioners to render quality services timely.
The Chairman further encouraged them to always involve the community leaders and other relevant stakeholders within the community they are working to get quick acceptance from members of the community saying, ” your actions of involving them might trigger them to provide some of the needed materials and solve identified issues that pose limitations to community members on accessing health care services.
During the course of the meeting, the State Program Officer, Miss Juliet Obiajulu who requested the different CBOs to give their reports for the month of August so as to know their challenges and achievements in other to provide solutions even as she implore them to design how they could generate success stories from their numerous challenges they would encounter in the course of delivery their services as an assurance of work carried out.
She encouraged them to be proactive in the discharge of their duties in the Primary Health centres for the community to feel their positive impact through legacy projects.
The meeting was attended by fifteen CBOs from Oshimili South, Oshimili North, Udu, Uvwie and Warri South local government Areas in the state.
