Members of the Junior Chambers International have been urged to remain committed to the noble ideals of the organization by being active citizens as well as actively participate in efforts geared towards nation building.
The Delta State Head of Service, JCI Senator Reginald Bayoko stated when he played host to the JCI Nigeria President, Ambassador Abiola Olorunnisola who led the Asaba President of the organization and other JCI’s on a courtesy visit on him on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Asaba.
Mr. Bayoko who reminisce on the good memories of being a member of the organization as a young student, revealed that the JCI was a strategic ingredient that shaped his mind and thoughts that made him what he was today.
He said that the JCI is a leadership organization that empowers young people to become active citizens and enjoined members to be good ambassadors of the international organization through their conduct, appearance and actions.
The Head of Service while congratulating the JCI on their 64th anniversary, commended the Nigeria President of the organization for his leadership initiatives including acquiring a land for the construction of a proposed permanent secretariat complex of the organization.
He also lauded the Asaba and Warri JCI “Read to Lead Project” towards establishing reading clubs in schools in Asaba and Warri metropolis as part of their contribution to revive reading culture amongst young people.
He expressed joy on the reading club project embarked upon by the Asaba and Warri JCI, and promised to support the project to succeed as according to the HoS, it is an area of interest that is very dear to his heart in helping to revive and promote reading culture in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Nigeria President of JCI, Ambassador Abiola Olorunnisola whilst thanking the Head of Service for his continuous support towards JCI Nigeria and JCI Asaba, solicited for further support on how JCI Nigeria and the Delta State Government can collaborate on youth development initiatives.
