The federal government has taken over the rehabilitated Kware irrigation scheme located in Sokoto state. The Irrigation scheme was constructed in 1954 it however collapsed over the years and abandoned. The intervention of the federal ministry of Agriculture under ATASP1 the scheme is now alive and functional. The government under it’s African development Bank Agricultural Transformation Agenda Programme awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the irrigation at 3.5 billion naira. The project covers 450 hectres of land for all year round farming activities and water drinking point for Animals to also serve as flood control system.
