In Act III, Scene I, of the William Shakespeare play, King Henry IV, the title character says, “Deny it to a king? Then happy low, lie down! Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” This scenario explicitly expresses how tough, complex and herculean, leadership responsibility could be to those who shoulder them. Leadership is the art of motivating or inspiring a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal, great leaders intervene in times of crisis and are able to think out of the box creatively in difficult situations in a bid to surmount the challenges. By Oghenejirokowho Olokor These are unusual times in politics and for politicians. Despite the dubious perception that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) platform introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has had limited impact on making the people’s vote count, the stunning victory of Labour Party’s Peter Obi in Lagos is one sterling outcome pundits have been unable to dismiss as something that could have been impossible to achieve without the BVAS in the presidential poll. Similarly, the outcome of the presidential and gubernatorial election in Oyo State where Governor Seyi Makinde never disguised his disapproval of PDP’s…
By Wilfred Oghenesivbe, Esq. Eacogovdelta You may have read a laughable story making the rounds on social media, alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, gave unholy directives to Justices of the Appellate Courts to do whatever it takes to murder justice, and give victory to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, and two other States. Let me state clearly from the outset that the story portrayed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a leader who does not care for the survival of constitutional democracy and rule of law. It also projected Mr President as a despotic leader who will…

Wirtten by Cappo SOA Olaribigbe If you think musical feuds were confined to artists playing the same type of music alone, you’ll have to rethink. Both KSA and Sikiru Ayinde Barrister began their musical career in 1966 with TYC. The two artists were pioneering figures at TYC under the ownership of Alhaji Bolarinwa Abioro. The feud between the two was never pronounced and it could be referred to as a silent feud that was only noticeable to insiders in the music industry. Many were unsure if both artists were friends or straight-up enemies. Initially, at the start of his career,…

By Opia Olomah Those who seek power not for the service of the people but for self glory and personal aggrandizement as ultimate end often regard deception, treachery, betrayal and greed as great virtues. Characteristically consumed in Robert Greene’s “The 48 Laws of Power” and Nicolle Machiavelli’s “The Prince,” just with intent to steel their political ruthlessness and arrogance, I wish they also had learned from Rosemary Rowe’s “The Rewards of Treachery” and other inspired political admonitions, to gift them temperance and moderation and enable them understand that self pride peeps through every part of the man, and that whoever…
