Goodwill of Atiku 2019, a notable support group for Atiku and Okowa in Delta State; has pledged to continue its massive mobilization of voters to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the presidential and governorship candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) respectively, among other PDP candidates in the February 16 and March 2, 2019 general elections in Nigeria.
The group made this pledge recently at the Atiku campaign rally on Thursday 31, 2019 at the Stephen Keshi’s Stadium, Asaba, Delta State. The National Coordinator of the group, Chief Owelle Jerry Nkeweshe, stated that Atiku is Nigeria’s next president, as Buhari and his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has ruined the economy of Nigeria and ran the country aground and as such must be voted out. He wondered why any right-thinking individual will still want Buhari to continue to rule Nigeria which has become more like a rudderless ship.
“Nigerians should rise up in unison to vote Atiku Abubakar. He is a better option in our collective pursuit to restore lost hope among Nigerians and to get Nigeria working again” Nkeweshe declared.
Asaba, the capital city of Delta State, was literally shutdown as Alhaji Atiku Ababukar and his campaign team arrived the State to deliver his message of hope and goodwill to Deltans and Nigerians in general. Atiku accompanied by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki among other PDP stalwarts rode in an open roof double decker luxurious bus from the Asaba International Airport and beaming with smile as he waved at the crowd, down to Stephen Keshi Stadium; and the people loved the scene and responded with cheers.
Address the crowd, Alhaji Atiku Ababukar spoke assuredly on his mission to get Nigeria back on economic prosperity for the enjoyment of all Nigerians. He reiterated his plan if elected Nigeria’s president in the February 16 election, to revive Warri and Koko seaports, as well as create millions of jobs for the good people of Delta State. He also promised to complete the second Niger Bridge, which is a strategic link road to the south-east. And the crowd cheered and burst into song and dance intermittently as the Presidential hopeful delivered his message eloquently to the admiration of all.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Peter Obi, Atiku’s running mate, Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus all congratulated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his developmental strides in Delta State. They however called on Deltans to vote massively for Atiku and Okowa among other PDP candidates as APC has failed Nigerians and has become a bad product.
Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor, Delta State in his message urged Deltans and Nigerians to vote Atiku for President, and himself, Okowa for Governor and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections. He averred that Deltans are peace loving and more united than ever and such Deltans are ready work with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to restore hope among Nigerians.
In the same vein, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe, Director of Strategy and Communications of the group said that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar offers the best choice to lead Nigeria out of the woods. He posited that “A leader is a dealer in hope, not in hopelessness”. According, the group – Goodwill of Atiku 2019 believes that Atiku Abubakar is the hope of restoration of Nigeria’s lost glory.
Osakwe said that since the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led APC government, majority of Nigerians have had to grapple with economic hardship, insecurity and loss of national unity. And while the people groan under the weight of economic retrogression, members of the ruling APC and their families and the much talked about cabals live in an unbelievable affluence and pride themselves as centurions of modern anti-corruption brigade.
And to halt the APC hypocrisy, the group said it has intensified its sensitization and mobilization of voters even to the remotest communities in Delta State and environs to ensure they collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and to vote in Atiku Abubakar as Nigeria’s next president and to vote for the re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State so Nigerians can live in dignity.
The support group which has as its patron, Chief Peter Okocha, made a bold statement as they joined the Delta State government in the rousing reception accorded Atiku and his campaign team during the presidential rally in Asaba. Members of the group came out in their large numbers, wearing their campaign t-shirts and caps; and carrying placards and banners, backed with dance troupe in solidarity with Atiku and Okowa, among other PDP candidates.
