The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned reports claiming that the party’s national leadership approved the inauguration of a “Leadership Council” in its Delta State chapter.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Esq., clarified that the NWC neither approved nor authorized the creation or operation of such a council in Delta State.
“The said ‘Leadership Council’ is not a body created or recognized under the Party’s Constitution, which clearly defines the statutory organs, structures, and committees of the Party, along with their respective powers and functions,” the statement read.
Morka further emphasized that the APC Constitution does not provide for any such council, whether as a statutory organ, ad-hoc structure, or committee.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation about the legitimacy of the purported council’s activities in Delta State, with party stakeholders awaiting further directives from the national leadership.
