Delta State Commissioner for Humanitarian and Community Support , Bridget Anyafulu, has resigned her appointment as a member of the state Executive Council (EXCO).
She gave the indication while addressing staff of her directorate in Asaba on the imperative of her resignation as a commissioner in the state.
She disclosed that her resignation was to enable her pursue her political ambition.
“I resigned because I want to vie for an elective position in my local government area and the law stipulates that I do so; hence, my action,” she stated.
Asked which position she intended to vie for in her local government area, the former commissioner revealed that she would be contesting to represent her people in the state House of Assembly.
“I will be contesting for a seat in the House of Assembly in my local government . So, all I need is your relentless prayers to enable me succeed in the task ahead,” she added .
Anyafulu used the medium to thank the staff for the good working relationship she enjoyed while she worked with them and enjoined them to extend same to whoever would be her successor in the directorate.
“As you all know that this is a new directorate and I am happy that I am leaving with so much ground covered and that was because it was not a new terrain for me; hence, the solid foundation which we have collectively laid,” she added.
Anyafulu used the avenue to advised the staff on the need to be up and doing in their respective life endeavours, adding that no position is permanent in life which required that one should take every opportunity available to uplift humanity and leave a lasting legacy in ones track.
In his remarks, the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the directorate, Dr. Chucks Nwani, commended the outgone commissioner for her diligence and uprightness in the discharge of her duties at the directorate.
On his part, the Director of Humanitarian Support Services, Mr. Stanley Rapu, prayed God to give her success in political ambition.
