A gas plant, NELMIC Gas Plant along Effurun – Sapele Road, opposite Post Office, close to Redeem Christian Church of God in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, a gas exploded and the fire still burning.
According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred at about 9:55 pm of Monday, 20 February, 2023. And the fire is spreading rapidly towards Okoloba area of Uvwie.
He said “This is terrible. Whoever is visiting the scene should be very cautious not to get too close… extreme care is required in areas of gas fire as explosion can reoccur as a result of gas bottles on ground”.
On what caused the fire outbreak, the eyewitness said “We don’t know it’s actual cause but Gas cylinder are natural bomb”.
