Youths of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency have staged a peaceful protest to Government House Asaba over their agitation for the inclusion of their area in the South East Development Commission bill which is before President Bola Tinubu.
They were received at Government House Asaba by the Chief of Staff Government House Hon Johnson Erijo.
The Leader of the youths Mr Kingsley Chukwuyem said the peaceful protest was to appeal to President Tinubu to consider inclusion of the constituency into the South East Development Commission because of the affinity between South East and the Anioma area.
He said as a result of the security challenge in the Eastern part of the country, most businessmen and their businesses have relocated to Aniocha/Oshimili hence the need for the area to have a share in the commission expected to champion development in the South East.
Other protesters, Precious Okocha and Olise Ajie thanked the National Assembly for endorsing the bill and also commended Mr President for his readiness to sign the bill but urge him to ensure the people of Aniocha/Oshimili are included into the commission before assenting to it.
Addressing the Youths, the Chief Of Staff Government House Hon Johnson Erijo thanked them for their peaceful conduct and called on them to channel their agitation to the Senator representing Delta North at the Senate, Prince Ned Nwoko and the member representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Representatives Hon Ngozi Okolie to enable their demand get the necessary attention.
He however pledged to take their request to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, assuring that the present administration is committed to giving priority attention to the challenges of Deltans.
Speaking on the protest, the member representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Representatives, Hon Ngozi Okolie thanked the youths for the initiative and called on President Bola Tinubu to consider the inclusion of his constituency in the development Commission before assenting to the bill
He said the federal government has not done much in the infrastructural and socioeconomic development of Aniocha/Oshimili pointing out that Delta State Government alone cannot shoulder the development of his constituency.
He charged the youths to remain peaceful and supportive of the Governor Oborevwori administration in the over all development of the area.
