The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the February 16, 2019 general elections, Hon. Paul Adingwupu has assured the people of his readiness to offer them good representation in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly once he is elected into the office.
Adingwupu made his intentions known recently, during an interactive session with indigenes and residents of Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State at a town hall meeting which was held at the Nnebisi Hall, Grand Hotel and Conference Centre, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. He maintained that his ambition is to serve the people through the delivery of impactful dividends of democracy. “The era of failed promises and politicians deceiving the people are over. I am on a mission to serve and serve well with positive footprints in the lives of people and on the sand of time” Adingwupu declared.
The Aniocha/Oshimili hopeful for the House Representatives posited that in his previous political assignments as a Special Adviser on higher education project, Delta State to the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori and also as a Special Adviser on ICT to the former Governor of Delta State , Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan; he was able to attract developmental projects and employment opportunities for the benefit of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. Adding that if given the privilege to serve in the Green Chamber he will attract more projects and development opportunities for the people in all sectors of the economy.
The town hall meeting was organized to feel the pulse of the people and to communicate the mission of Hon. Paul Adingwupu, and also to for proper harmonization of his planned action in line with his legislative focus which include; Good governance and Accountability, Infrastructural development of the entire Aniocha/Oshimili Constituency, Education, Health, Youth/Women Empowerment and Agribusiness among others, when elected.
The Ubulu-Unor born politician, and philanthropist, who is the founder of the Foundation For Effective Leadership and Development [FELD], a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which is engaged in the empowerment of the less privileged in the society, including women, youths and students since 2011; emphasised that one of his cardinal programme is to pursue the creation of an enabling environment, so that the people can attain their full potentials, and economic empowerment of youths and women, particularly market women and widows through his constituency projects.
The epoch-making event attracted large turned-out of electorates from all segment of the society, including traditional rulers, high chiefs, religious leaders, artisans, youth leaders, students’ associations, market women, various trade associations, media personnel and representatives of non-indigenes residing in the constituency among others.
The audience came prepared with questions, challenges and commendations; and Adingwupu not one to shy away from responsibility took all the questions and challenges with equanimity, even as he assured the people not to lose hope on Nigeria as things will get better and best. He however decried the lack of access road to Oko community which is located within the State capital territory and vowed to initiate a process for the design and construction of the road to Oko among other roads, by renowned road construction companies and other projects when voted into office. Stressing that if roads and bridges can be constructed in other riverine communities in the State, Oko should not be an exception.
He assured the people that God has heard the cry of the oppressed and deprived in Anioma/Oshimili, “My father in heaven, (Our Lord Jesus Christ) has sent me to wipe away your tears” Adingwupu declared. He promised to be holding town hall meetings at regular interval with the people if elected, to share ideas on the development needs of the people and ultimately factor same into the yearly budget for his constituency projects.
The people could not hold back their joy as they sang songs of praise for Adingwupu with many testimonies of his humanitarian deeds and commendations as demonstrated over the years for the good of humanity.
