The Chairman of the Delta State Amnesty Phase 2, ‘General’ Solomon Adu has congratulated Chief Dennis Otuaro (PhD), the Ibe-Uyadonwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area on his well deserved appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme PAP, describing it as square peg in a square hole.
‘General’ Adu who spoke in Warri,Delta State said the news of the appointment of Chief Dennis Otuaro as the new helmsman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme was greeted with joy and excitement by all stakeholders judging from his antecedents as a thorough bred and knowledgeable patriot in Niger Delta issues.
“I am particularly happy that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had thought it wise to rejig and re-engineer the Presidential Amnesty Programme and for the appointment of Chief Dennis Otuaro as the Administrator, it is a big boost to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of Mr President as regards the PAP and the Niger Delta at large”.
“I am confident that Chief Dennis Otuaro will bring his huge wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment by revamping, re-engineering and giving a new direction to the President Amnesty Programme in line with the mandate of its establishment by the Federal Government in all ramifications” .
‘General’ Adu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of a Deltan and Niger Delta Activist who champions development of the Niger Delta region at this time in the nation’s history particularly with the urgent need to re-engineer the scheme for better productivity.
According to him…”the appointment of Chief Dennis Otuaro will give the Presidential Amnesty Programme a new lease of life having suffered setbacks under previous leaderships adding that it was worthy to note that Chief Otuaro resumed duty immediately in order to hit the ground running”.
“All stakeholders are full of positive expectations from Chief Dennis Otuaro, there is the urgent need for all to give him the needed support to reinvigorate the Amnesty Programme in line with best practices”.
“I want to strongly appeal to him to carry every stakeholder along particularly ex-agitators and the various ethnic nationalities in the scheme of things and settle all outstanding issues as regards payment of stipends, local and foreign training, scholarship etc”.
He said major stakeholders were dissatisfied with the running of the Amnesty office in the past which created bad blood among the various ethnic nationalities and ex-agitators thereby falling short of expectations.
“Please avoid the pitfalls your predecessors suffered which gave a negative outlook to the Amnesty Programme and create a new template for the proper working of the Programme and ensure you give a good account of yourself to justify the confidence reposed in you by President Bola Tinubu “.
