Suspected hoodlums allegedly/ reportedly loyal to former Senate President Bukola Saraki disrupted the Eid prayers in Ilorin today.
The disruption, which has become an unfortunate tradition since Saraki was voted out of office in 2019, overshadowed the religious event and led to heightened tensions among worshippers.
The incident unfolded at the Ilorin Eid praying ground as worshippers gathered for the solemn Eid-el-Adha prayers. The Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, was about to deliver his speech when commotion ensued.
The Emir repeatedly tried to caution the disruptive elements, urging them to respect the sanctity of the religious gathering. Despite his efforts, the situation escalated, mirroring the chaos that occurred the last time Saraki attended the Eid prayers.
Amidst the chaos, Saraki, visibly agitated, decided to leave the venue. He walked out before the Emir could commence his speech, and didn’t exchange pleasantries with the Emir.
