The Vice- Chancellor, Admiralty University of Nigeria, Prof. Paul Omojo Omaji disclosed that National University commission (NUC) had successfully accredited 12 undergraduate programs in their university.
Prof. Omaji during a press conference with selected journalists in Delta State revealed that in July 202, he inaugurated a program accreditation taskforce and charged them to coordinate all preparations towards presenting 12 programs to the NUC.
He said the taskforce gave their all with cooperation from all principal officers and between November and December 2021, the university presented its 12 degree programmes to the NUC for assessment, evaluation and validation which was thoroughly and carefully reviewed by the various panelists that visited.
On 14th of April, 2022, the vice Chancellor said that 11 programs were accorded full accreditation status with one (1) receiving interim accreditation status saying it is an historic achievement of top grade A+ performance to the institution as it was the first time they will going through external accreditation review in its young stage of development.
He also mentioned that the NUC has given approval to commence Law programme with effect from 2021/2022 academic session and that the university is expecting the council on legal education (CLE) to verify their resources for full take-off even as he said that they are looking at adding the faculty of Engineering and Technology as well as the faculty of Maritime studies in the 2022/2023 academic session.
Another achievement mentioned by the Vice-Chancellor was the passage of the Admiralty University, Ibusa establishment bill into law by the House of Representative on the 15th of June 2022 while saying that ADUN will soon be a Public university with definitive imprint of the Navy for their financial and moral support that has taken to this enviable heights while disclosing that the institution will be organising its first convocation in november, 2022.
Prof Omaji also noted the challenges of staffing, enrollment of students, parents payments of fees whereby they develop a flexible strategy for parents to pay on installment and revealed that when the institution as been moved to a public status the fees will certainly reduced.
On issues of security and cultism, the Vice-Chancellor maintained that the management of the have seriously pay attention on vigilance in drastically curbing cultism in ADUN.
