In a bold step towards enhancing digital transformation and effective communication in university governance, the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) hosted a Staff Capacity Building Workshop themed “Building Digital Information Ecosystems for Effective University Management and Public Relations” on April 15, 2025. The event, held at the Senate Building, was organised by the Information, Communication and Protocol (ICP) Unit in collaboration with Infinix Tech Cloud and ENLUKA Consultancy.
The workshop aimed to empower staff with relevant knowledge and tools to navigate the evolving landscape of digital information management and strategic public relations, ensuring that ADUN remains at the forefront of excellence in the Nigerian university system.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubusi Ogbogbo, led the opening ceremony, warmly welcomed the participants and resource persons. He was joined by other principal officers, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Rear Admiral MM Abdullahi, the Registrar and the Chief Librarian among others, The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of digital innovation in achieving the institution’s mission and vision, while acknowledging the efforts of the ICP Unit in spearheading the initiative.
Among the distinguished guests was Mr. Godfrey Osakwe, Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Delta State Chapter. In his goodwill message, he commended the management of ADUN for its foresight in organising a workshop that aligns with the pressing needs of modern university administration. He highlighted the strategic role of public relations as more than a communication function but as a core element of university good governance and stakeholders engagement.
“Public relations is not just about media interviews or press releases,” Mr. Osakwe stated. “It lives in our daily actions, our digital footprints, and the integrity of our information systems. Universities must adopt digital tools and frameworks that support data-driven decision-making and responsive communication.”
A key moment of the workshop was the keynote lecture delivered by Mr. Taiwo Akinosho of Infinix Tech Cloud. His presentation introduced the ADUN Student Information Desk (ASID), a robust ERP solution designed to revolutionize internal communications, resource management, and student engagement. The ASID platform is poised to become a game-changer in the university’s operations, offering centralised data systems that streamline processes, improve planning, and enhance institutional transparency.
Participants were exposed to practical insights on how to build and sustain a digital information ecosystem, incorporating tools that support human resource management, student enrollment, academic records, financial data, and public interface management. The sessions emphasized the interconnected nature of data in driving evidence-based planning and in crafting compelling institutional narratives.
The workshop also featured insightful presentations from Makut Alfred Mashat, Head of Communications and Protocol, ICP Unit, ADUN, Christabel Ebhonu, Head of Media & Documentation, ICP Unit, ADUN and Abiola Olaibi, representing the Deputy Director of ICT, ADUN.

The workshop ended with a renewed sense of purpose and collaboration among staff, reinforcing ADUN’s dedication to innovation, excellence, and responsive governance. Participants were encouraged to apply the lessons learned to strengthen institutional capacity and reinforce ADUN’s reputation as a dynamic, forward-looking university committed to societal development.
