Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo Esq has said that the Delta State Administration of Criminal Justice Bill , Delta State Civil Justice Bill and Delta State Good Governance and Accountability Bill are intended to fastrack justice delivery as well as provide holistic approach in dealing with criminal and civil justice in the state.
Mr. Bozimo stated this in Asaba during a public hearing on the three bills held at the State House of Assembly complex.
He said that the purpose of the bills was to essentially get the contributions of members of the public in order to ascertain whether they were in support or against the three bills .
Mr. Bozimo disclosed that all the three bills received support of all stakeholders and members of the public who were at the public hearing, adding that members of the public drew the attention of the stakeholders to a section of the bills so as to take a second look at them .
The Attorney-General also said that the essence of the public hearing was to ensure that the end product of the bills would be in tandem with the public interest.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Legal and Judicial Matters, Hon. Charles Oniyere reiterated the State House of Assembly commitment to passing laws that were people oriented.
Hon. Oniyere said that the aim of the public hearing was to enable stakeholders contribute to the bills and canvass their opinions to enable the house make adjustments where necessary.
On his part , a High Court Judge in the state, Justice Briggy Okolosi lauded the State Ministry of Justice and the House of Assembly Committee on Legal and Judicial Matters for proposing the bills .
