The convener of the David Edevbie Movement’23, Comr. Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola has stated that the position taken by the Delta Unity Group was timely and necessary, especially where it inferred that Olorogun David Edevbie is the valid and only candidate of the People’s Democratic Party as it stands.
In a statement made available to the press, Comr. Wojuola stated that truly, as the Delta Unity Group resolved, the unity of the People’s Democratic Party was sacrosanct towards winning the 2023 general elections hence the need for all stakeholders to avoid making statements that would further disparage members.
“I am in tune with the communique recently issued by the Delta Unity Group. Their resolutions were not just timely but also necessary to clear the air on issues so many had hitherto feared to speak on.
It is without an iota of doubt that the caliber of stakeholders of the PDP that were therein present at the meeting held in Kwale, gives credence to the fact that the party is not relentless in ensuring it wins the 2023 general elections by fielding the best man to do the job.”
Speaking on the appeal filed by the party against the Federal High Court judgment in Abuja, Comr. Wojuola stated that it was totally wrong for the party to have taken sides in this matter as Edevbie never faulted the conduct of the primary elections, but on the contrary he applauded the process. He noted that the problem was the person who the party declared winner, allegedly had discrepancies in his certificates, and that was why Olorogun David Edevbie was in court. “I see no reason the party filed an appeal against the judgement of the Federal High Court. It could brew bad blood among party members.” he said.
While exhorting the leadership of the party not to take sides with one against the other, he noted that the support of all stakeholders was needed to win the general elections.
