HOSTCOM Garner More Support for Okowa’s Re-election
The Chairman of the Host Communities producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), Delta State Chapter, Evang. Gabriel Isibeluo, has said that pragmatic measures were being taken to enhance and sustain the progress being achieved by HOSTCOM in recent times, noting that a healthy synergy with the Delta state government under the leadership of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa would attract more prosperity to the oil producing communities in the state.
Evang. Isibeluo made this known at the Ika nation town hall meeting cum ethnic mobilisation and sensitisation of the indigenes of the host communities, held on Monday, at Ika National Hall, Agbor.
Evang. Isibeluo, who led the representatives of other ethnic chapters of HOSTCOM, comprising Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Isoko, and Ndokwa ethnic Nationalities to the town hall meeting said that
HOSTCOM was poised to leveraging opportunities in the political institution to draw more benefit from the government, adding that the political trend in Delta state currently, beckons at the pressure group to support governor Okowa’s re-election bid so as to sustaining good governance for the good of all Deltans.
His words, “HOSTCOM Delta State is taking an unusual step to enhance its opportunities and sustain achieved progress and prosperity.
“As a pressure group, it is pertinent to say that in this political dispensation, we have to watch the tempo of the ‘game’ cautiously by acting in a different way. That is, we must take our destiny in our hands by giving our support to governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”
Isibeluo added, “gone are the days we would resort to violence to agitate for our rights. We have now changed that narratives as we know that our PVC is our power. If we harness our strength, we can decide who will govern us and then duly have a say in the matters that concern our welfare.”
“HOSTCOM stands for equity and fairness as a pressure group,” Isibeluo stated.
Delving into the political archive of Delta state, the HOSTCOM Chairman noted that the political arrangement in the state legitimatises governor Okowa’s second term bid as it will complete the eight (8) years tenure of Delta North. He implored the people of Ika nation to support governor Okowa’s re-election in 2019.
In his earlier address, the Chairman of HOSTCOM, Ika nation, Dcn. John Hilary Ogwuh, thanked the state Chairman of HOSTCOM, Evang. Gabriel Isibeluo for being innovative and proactive as evident in the town hall meeting holding across the oil producing ethnic nationalities across the state. “It is on record that governor Okowa’s government takes issues concerning HOSTCOM to heart, a feat that stands out unbeaten by previous governments.
In a similar vein, Ms Ihwiwhu Diana, National Assistant Women Leader, charged the women to collect their PVCs and vote for governor Okowa en masse.
