Delta State House of Assembly Majority Leader and Member representing Isoko South Constituency II, Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo KSC, has dispelled rumours of the withdrawal of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori FICMC from the People’s Democratic party (PDP) gubernatorial primaries, stating that the Speaker is few hours away from emerging as the candidate of the party in the 2023general elections.
Onwo who made the statement while fielding questions from newsmen at the venue of the primary, lambasted those circulating the remours describing them as bad opponents who are scared of facing the statewide acceptance of the speaker.
“There is nothing like the Governor asking Mr. Speaker to step down for Sen. James Manager. The Governor is a father to all and his has over and over again reiterated his resolve to have a free fair and credible primary election like you all witnessed across the state few days ago.
“From our interactions with delegates, there is a statewide acceptance of the aspiration of the Speaker. All the delegates have vowed to vote for the Speaker and it is base on that strength that I can authoritatively declare that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori FICMC is few hours away from been declared the winner of the PDP gubernatorial primaries.
On the margin of Oborevwori’s envisaged victory, Onwo stated thus, “Mr. Speaker is expected to secure at least 70% of the votes in an election that will definitely be adjudged even by his opponent to be the freest and fairest primary election ever conducted in this soil”
