“I have no doubts in my heart that I am the next Governor of Delta State, so get ready to be at my swearing-in.” These were the words of Olorogun (Barr.) Kenneth Gbagi, former Minister of State for Education and frontline Delta State Governorship aspirant to the delegation of the Civil Society Network for Citizens Engagement, Credible Elections and Good Governance (CSNCE2GG) when they visited his Oginigbo palatial home in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
For over two hours, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi engaged with the Civil Society leaders answering questions. Activist Rex Anighoro, the leader of the visiting Civil Society delegation gave the aspirant feedback from sampled public opinion regarding his person. Activist Rex asked: ” Sir, listening to you (Gbagi) has been very enriching and convincing but I am wondering why you are often portrayed as the bad boy of Delta State Politics. There exists diverse negative narrativea about your personal and professional life in the public domain, portraying you as a bully, a terror and one who does not pay his workers, why is this so? ”
Olorogun Gbagi had great answers for every question, and he responded thus: “They say I am weird, they say I am controversial, they say I am too independent minded, they say I am uncontrollable, and I ask them, why do you want to control me? They just want to blackmail me, demarket me by pushing false narratives about me. What have they not said? They said that I keep lions and pythons in my house, that I stripped women naked, or I built my mall under powerline because I like breaking the law. Truth is that they are so scared of me because I am an enigma and cannot be corrupted. Gbagi is a man of character and principles, I am blunt, I cannot be bribed and I am not a thief. No one has been able to prove any of these false narratives against me. In fact, Gbagi is too civilised to carryout these childish allegations.
The former Minister speaking further, said: “Rex, tell the Civil Society leaders that I am coming to industrialise Delta State. My manifesto is a realistic agenda and not a plastic document aimed at milking Delta State dry. I am the most successful politician with visible investments in Delta State, and for over thirty years I have been in the State growing businesses, I have never stolen Government money. I do not have any case with EFCC because every blackmail thrown at me has failed. They know that when Gbagi becomes Governor, the old order of looting will come to an end and Delta State will be liberated.”
Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi alluded to being quite misunderstood because he always insist on people doing the right thing and not cut corners.”I am an entrepreneur, I work and earn money legitimately, and I have established businesses for our youths to do the same. If anyone can prove and show to me anyone who worked for me and I did not pay, I will reward such a person”, he stated.
Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi said that the culture of free money being thrown around was not a progressive one and that he is determined to see a Delta where everyone is working and earning.
He posited that under his watch as Governor of Delta State, Corp Members and youths in our communities will not be docile as they all will be busy working in factories across the State and earning, as he is on a mission to revive dead and dying industries in Delta State through credible multinational partnerships. He called on the Civil Society to wake up and demand for a better Delta State led by visionary leaders with proven track records of success.
