Immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has assured the good people of the state that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, will do better than candidates of the opposition parties if elected on March 11, this year
Uduaghan, gave the assurance at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Owhorode of Olomu Kingdom, Ovie Richard Ogbon, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state on Friday, during the visit of the PDP candidate to Delta Central Traditional Rulers.
He said Oborevwori is well known to him for over two decades and counting, wherein he described the PDP governorship candidate as a honest, reliable, respectful, meticulous, accessible, humble and hardworking politician and public servant with astonishing track record as the longest serving Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
The former governor noted that Oborevwori is the only governorship candidate that is generally accepted and loved by majority of Deltans in the ongoing contest for the number one position of governor in the state, adding that his integrity and pedigree as a Pan Delta, philanthropist and astute politician has elevated him far and above other opposition candidates in the contest for the office of governor of Delta State.
Uduaghan appealed to all the traditional rulers in Delta Central of Urhobo extraction and across the state, to continue to support the governorship candidacy of Oborevwori, pray for his resounding victory and good health, so that he can come on board as governor on May 29, to implement the much talked about M.O.R.E agenda, for the benefit of the state and citizens.
On his part, the Delta PDP governorship candidate, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, assured the royal fathers that he would build on the enviable legacies of the incumbent governor and PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, if elected governor on March 11, this year.
He asserted that Delta State witnessed substantial development under Okowa, and that his M.O.R.E blueprint will advance the state from where this administration will stop on May 29, adding that as a Pan Deltan and a detribalized Nigerian, he shall be governor for all Deltans, not a governor for a particular tribe or ethnic nationality.
Oborevwori said his wealth of experience as the longest serving speaker since the creation of Delta State, coupled with his previous working relationships with the two past governors: Chief James Ibori and Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, places him far and above other opposition governorship candidates who are in the race without focus and credible manifestos.
The Delta PDP candidate used the occasion of his visit to Urhobo traditional rulers to thank them for the huge support he got so far, and appealed to the royal fathers to use their good offices to prevail on their subjects to vote him as governor and other candidates of the party on February 25 and March 11, this year.
Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, also appealed to the royal fathers to urge their subjects to support and project the candidacy of the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, noting that the duo has the capacity, integrity and wealth of experience to reset and rebuild Nigeria through policies and programmes encapsulated in their socioeconomic and development agenda titled: “My Covenant with Nigerians,” by Atiku Abubakar.
Oborevwori emphasized that the Atiku-Okowa presidency shall bring to fruition the long overdue “Restructuring and State Police,” wherein regions or states shall control their God-given resources and pay tax to the government at the centre and to ensure effective policing at the state level under the state government as solution to the problems of insecurity in Nigeria.
The PDP governorship candidate assured that Delta State will benefit immensely if governor Okowa becomes the Vice President of Nigeria, which is why all hands must be on deck in the state to mobilize eligible voters to deliver block vote for PDP and her candidates across board.
The royal fathers including His Imperial Majesty, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom and Chairman, Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, Major General Felix Mujakperuo (rtd.), His Imperial Majesty, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, Ukori the First, Michael Omeru, HRM the Owhorode of Olomu Kingdom, Ovie Richard Ogbon and HRM Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III, offered prayers for the landslide victory of PDP governorship candidate, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis at the polls on March 11, this year and for all PDP candidates across board.
