The political rendezvous in Delta State took a new trajectory yesterday, the 14th day of December 2022 as the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and its gubernatorial candidate, known as the People’s General, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, with his deputy, Ogbueshi Chinedu Alannah inaugurated the Delta State Campaign Council and unveiled his manifesto titled; “The Jubilee” at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.
A 46-man campaign council to be led by Prince Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh as chairman, was inaugurated, together with advisory committee and local government coordinators across the 3 senatorial district in Delta State, while the Oath-taking was presided by Barr. Stella Anietor.
Chief Great Ogboru, the APGA governorship candidate in Delta, who expressed surprise at the turnout and overwhelming support from Party faithful, recounted how the party’s manifesto was revealed to him by divine inspiration.
“This is the Jubilee. The appointed time to liberate Delta and Deltans is now” he said while unveiling the manifesto of his Party of which copies were distributed.
Ogboru enumerated education, health, agricultural development and food security; environment; rural and urban renewal/development; industrialization/investment in area of comparative advantage; human capital and youth development; equal opportunity, local government development initiatives as area of priority in his 2023 gubernatorial campaign.
The Delta State chairman of APGA, Elder Afam Enemokwu, in his opening remarks, enjoined all party faithfuls to come together and work for the success of the party in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
While charging party faithful to imbibe the spirit of cohesion, open mind and heart to work for the party, Elder Enemokwu reiterated that such disposition was the only way to move the party from minority to majority.
He urged members to desist from violence and campaign of calumny for peaceful election, that APGA has a presidential candidate in the person Prof. Peter Umeadi, and enjoined all members to campaign and vote for APGA candidates;- the Presidential, the Gubernatorial, the Senate, the Federal House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Messrs. Tony Akpokena and Joseph Ozono took their turns respectively in presentations titled; “State of Affairs of Delta State” and “Another Possibilities in Niger Delta”. Both speakers elucidated on the decaying state of Delta State, the opportunities that abound, the dividends accruable to Delta State and the need to elect a Governor that would restore the true status and glory of an oil-producing state like Delta.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of APGA Delta State Council’s Manifesto titled; “The Jubilee” by the Party’s gubernatorial candidate in the State, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru.
