The Honourable Commissioner representing Delta State in the National Population Commission (NPC), Sir Richard Odibo has assured that the 2023 national population census exercise will be credible.
He gave the assurance in a media interaction with newsmen shortly after the courtesy visit of members of Association of Justices of The Peace, Delta State at his Ekpan Uvwie Local Government Area on Tuesday 11th October, 2022.
“The 2023 National Population Census is going to be exceptional. The World is technologically driven. So Nigeria should not be an exception.
“We have the satellite imagery of the 774 local government areas in the country. This enables us to know where all the houses are located,” he added.
The NPC commissioner also stated that census is a process whereby the commission knows where camps, farmlands, creeks, forest, commercial and residential houses are located.
“House counting has been done. It is only those that are physically present that will be counted,” he stated.
The NPC commissioner also disclosed that the commission was collaborating with NIPOST, NIMC, etc and other data based agencies in ensuring the credibility of the forthcoming national population census.
He therefore allayed fear of any form of manipulation in the 2023 National Population Census, stressing that the census is for national development purposes.
The President of association, Chief Sam Odjoji had earlier in his address, requested for the association partnership with NPC in the 2023 National Population Census in Delta State.
In his response, Sir Odibo graciously granted the request.
The NPC commissioner stated that the association will be of great assistance to NPC in informing the people about the 2023 National Population Census.
To this end, Odibo decorated his guests with the commission’s pinups of ambassador of 2023 National Population Census.
He also gave members of the association souvenirs of NPC designers t-shirts.
