A former State lawmaker, Hon. Edoja Akpodiete has formally declared his intention to return to the House of Assembly to represent Ughelli North Constituency II. Hon. Akpodiete made his intention known at the weekend while addressing a gathering of Elders and Leaders of Ughelli Ward 2/6 at Ofuoma Ughelli.
Akpodiete, a lawyer, restated his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stressing that he is well qualified for, and capable of, representing Ughelli North Constituency II, having served in different capacities; as elected councillor in Ughelli North in 1996 , LGA Secretary of PDP in 1998 to 1999 , Legislative Aide to a member of DTHA and as an ex-member of DTHA.
He said he has the technical know how to initiate relevant laws that will make the State the envy of all, promising not to disappoint his people. He told the gathering that he is not going back to the House as a neophyte but as a more articulate voice in House based on his experiences and further training.
He noted that within the relatively brief period of his stay as a lawmaker, his numerous bills and motions, infrastructural projects and empowerment programmes still speak volumes.
He promised not to fail the people if re-elected to the House of Assembly, and urged all stakeholders, expecially elders and leaders to support him in the lobby of the delegates to vote for him at the primaries.
One of the PDP Elders, Olorogun Dr. Theo Okpidi, prayed for Hon. Edoja Akpodiete’s success and God’s guidance for him at the PDP primary, and at the general elections, assuring him of the full support of the entire Ward 2/6 leaders and elders.
