The Chairman of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, has expressed joy over the emergence of Comrade Christopher Ikechukwu, as the President of the union at the concluded 7th Triennial National Delegates Conference of the union at Umuahia in Abia State.
While congratulating others that were victorious in the election, Comrade Ikeogwu called on those that could not make it to join hands with the president in taking the union to the envisaged heights, adding that members should embrace the spirit of camaraderie among themselves to attract the much needed public recognition and acceptability from the public.
He said that Comrade Isiguzo had the administrative and leadership astuteness to continue to reposition the union, adding that Isiguzo’s first term in office was an index of his capacity to turn around the fortune of the union for the better in the country.
The labour leader congratulated delegates and observers from Delta State for conducting themselves in a most excellent carriage throughout the duration of the conference, stressing that not only had they made the council proud, but had proven the truism that Delta State is home to personalities with exquisite character.
Ikeogwu wished the delegates and observers from the state a safe journey back to Delta State.
It would be recalled that Comrade Isiguzo had beaten his rival, Yusuf Idris, with 665 to 15 votes, out of the total accredited 702 delegates, with 22 votes invalidated in the electoral process during the conference.
