Following a petition of alleged fraud through financial misappropriation and constitutional breaches, the State Administrative Council (SAC) of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) Delta State Council unanimously impeached the Chairman of the Union Comrade Benson Efeotor.
Briefing newsmen at the NUJ Press Center Asaba, the acting Chairman of the NCSU Delta State Council, Comrade Billy Idoloakeme disclosed that the impeachment of Comrade Efeotor followed a resolution reached by the SAC during a meeting held at the Union’s Secretariat, Anwai/Illah road Asaba.
According to the statement, Comrade Viano Acha, a member of the Union petitioned the State Chairman, alleging the aforementioned breaches.
“Arising from the weighty nature of the petition which contained documentary evidence of the alleged fraud against him, SAC in session requested the State Chairman to respond to the allegations of fraud against him.
The statement noted that the chairman could not deny the allegations but repeatedly said the allegations are the handwork of his enemies who are bent on removing him from office.
It was resolve that, following Comrade Benson Efeotor’s refusal to provide any reply to the weighty allegations of financial fraud against him, his total disregard to SAC and Union’s Constitution, persistent and unruly behaviour, walkout and threat to SAC members in session, Comrade Peter moved a motion for the impeachnent of the Chairman and was seconded by Comrade Okoturo Kenneth and was unanimously endorsed by SAC.
The statement also revealed that the SAC also in session resolved that the Vice Chairman, Comrade Billy Idoloakeme, should act as acting State Chairman of the Union. and also directed the State Secretary to immediately convene meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC)
The statement conclude that, six members of SAC; Comrades Billy Idoloakeme, Magdalene Adigwe, Peter Odedede, Okoturo Kenneth, Maria Isichei and Sidney Okocha advised the State Secretary to call for a meeting on the need for SAC to meet immediately and look into the issues and allegations noting that the overall interest of the Union cannot be over emphasized.
In his remark, the Trustee of the Union Comrade Kenneth Okoturo noted that Rule 1 of the NCSU state that respect for the Constitution is paramount. And when Comrade Efeotor was asked to respond to the allegations he snubbed SAC saying he was the Union and so no one should question him.
He added that Rule 19 empowered SAC to impeached any erring officer that disobeyed any of the NCSU Rules and this they have done.
Also speaking, Comrade Okpue Kingsley Onyebuchi alleged that Comrade Efeotor’s impeachment was as a result of financial misappropriation.
He said he was under paid in his Ministry rebate and when his accosted the erstwhile Chairman said he was deliberately underpaying them because he was using the deductions to settle some bigwigs in the State and dome persons at the National level of the Union.
Comrade Williams Eniyekebe said Efeotor’s impeachment was a welcome development and progressiveness for the Union because he is incompetent to lead the Union.
He disclosed that the State Executive Council will on Friday, 4th October, 2019, rectify the impeachment of Comrade Benson Efeotor.
