The former Group General Manager (GGM) of the Frontiers Exploration Service (FES) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. (Dr.) Mazadu Dader Bako, Ph.D, FNMGS, FNAPE, will be the Guest Lecturer at the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Worldwide, National Public Service Lecture.
The Lecture is titled: “Frontier Basin Hydrocarbon Exploration: The Nigerian Experience” and will hold on Thursday, May 25th, 2023, at the Dame Edith Okowa Auditorium, Dr. Michael Omolayole Alumni Complex, University of Ibadan, UI, by 4pm.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the Chairperson, UIAA Worldwide 2023 National Public Service Lecture organizing Committee, Engr. (Dr.) Sarah Akintola, on Sunday in Ibadan.
Akintola, who noted that the UIAA Public Service Lecture series were platforms used in proffering solutions to challenges in the society especially in a developing society such as ours, asserted that the choice of Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako to deliver this unique topic “Frontier Basin Hydrocarbon Exploration: The Nigerian Experience” was a product of a very rigorous exercise from a collection of great minds earlier nominated to deliver this year’s all important lecture.
While narrating the rigorous exercise in arriving at the choice of the Guest lecturer, Engr. (Dr.) Sarah Akintola said: “Gentlemen of the Press, today, we are happy to unveil a man of many parts, Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako FNMGS FNAPE, all the way from Plateau State, as the Guest Lecturer for the UIAA Worldwide 2023 National Public Service lecture.
Continuing she said, he is “A First Class Geologist and former University teacher. The antecedents of Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako is from one important phase to another where he recorded successes beyond boundaries despite varied challenging challenges he experienced.
“Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako made his family proud after completing his Primary and Secondary education when he graduated with First Class Honour in Geology which further earned him educational scholarship for his Master’s and PhD. in the UK. Such height can only be achieved by people with character, focus and principle.
“After beating the reach and succeeding excellently in academics, Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako sets for a promising career with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), where he rose through ranks to the position of the Group General Manager (GGM) of the Frontiers Exploration Service (FES) of the NNPC.
“At that, Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako beats records and sets new record of oil discovery in Northern Nigeria, the most common is the oil well successfully drilled in Alkaleri LGA in Bauchi State.”
Engr. Sarah Akintola added that the success of this year’s UIAA Worldwide Public Service Lecture did not just see Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako as a star but a solution to the country’s Frontier Basin Hydrocarbon Exploration deserving a standing ovation.
“Dr. Bako underlying purpose and motivation for leadership is giving back to community and society. Leave the society better than he met it.” Akintola asserted.
While inviting stakeholders in the Oil and Gas sector, and the general public to the lecture, Dr. Sarah Akintola revealed that the event will hold under the distinguished chairmanship of Prof. Charity Ashimem Angya (Fsonta, MDA), OON, Former Vice Chancellor, Benue State University, Makurdi, while the Chief Host is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, FAS, mni, in the array of dignitaries expected at the event.
