As part of the activities marking Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwore’s one year in office, a sociopolitical group known as the Integrity Group yesterday held a world press conference unveiling and showcasing the successes and achievements of Governor Oborevwori’s administration in one year as a support group.
The well attended world conference was convened by the Group headed by Dr Oke Idawene and it was held at Fobbs Hotel in Asaba.
The Convener, Dr. Oke Idawene, flanked by his Executive Officers and other members of the 25 Local Government Areas Exco, disclosed that the
Integrity Group was a socio-political group established with the sole aim of propagating the MORE agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation of governor Sheriff Oborevwore and the pet project of his wife, Tobore — this Integrity Group is MORE agenda and You Matter Charity Foundation ambassadors.
Reeling out the success story of the Delta State Governor, Dr Idawene noted that “As you know, the four pillars of governor Sheriff Oborevwore campaign policy thrust was christened the MORE agenda which stand for; Meaningful Development, Opportunities for all, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced peace and security of Delta State.
“You will recalled that on assumption of office, the governor ordered for the recruitment of over 2500 teaching and non-teaching staff in 22 LGAs, aimed at improving quality of learning as well as enhanced opportunity for the young graduates in the state to gainfully employed.
“He equally approved payment of N40 billion to defray backlog of pensions owed retired primary school teachers and local government employees in the state which was aimed at assisting the 25 local government councils in the state defray a substantial part of Accrued Rights of Local Government Pensioners.
“In a similar gesture, the governor released N5.522bn promotion arrears for civil servants, a testament to the Governor’s unwavering dedication to the growth and productivity of the Public Service in the state.
“Again, he approved the payment of over N674,000,000 as bursary to no fewer than 30,000 students of Delta state origin in higher institutions across the country for the 2022/2023 academic session.
“Approval of palliative payment of N10,000 to each of the 50,196 civil servants in Delta State including the 10 tertiary institutions for three (3) months”
Dr. Idawene said on Critical Infrastructures, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s-led administration did not hesitate the commencement of the construction of three flyovers, cloverleaf and pedestrian bridges worth N78 billion awarded to Julius Berger in Effurun and Warri metropolis.
“Construction of Ohorhe-Adagbrasa-Ugolo-Okuodiete road with a spur from Adagbrasa to Ughwagba community to Okan junction along the Eku-Osubi-Effurun Road in Okpe Local Government Area.
“Construction of Nsukwa-Umute-Adonte Road Phase 1 from Nsukwa to Umute in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
“Ongoing construction of the phase 2 of the Orhere-Agbarho-Otokutu link road which includes a bridge across the Otokutu river.
“Ongoing construction of Orere-Ewu bridge at Ewu, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
“Ongoing construction of Kwale-Beneku bridge, a bridge that link Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East LGAs.
“Construction of Okpanam and Ibusa bye-pass in Oshimili North LGA, and so many projects across the state.” The Integrity Group Convener asserted.
Dr. Idawene opined that on Peace and Security, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has shown commitments in assisting all stakeholders in enhancing peace and security for the benefit of law-abiding residents and the government as a whole since assumption of office.
According to Dr. Idawene “The cardinal policy of his development agenda for the state, which is christened M.O.R.E (Meaningful Development; Opportunities for All; Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security), hinges on peace and security.
“As a government, the goal is to provide sustainable development and opportunities for the people. These can only be achieved successfully when there is peace and security.
“Oborevwori’s administration has provided synergy between the government and the police which has built trust and the confidence of the people in the ability of various security outfits in the state.
“The governor has also provided various platforms for community engagements which has enhanced peace and security in the state.”
He used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the State Legislature and indeed the judiciary for working in synergy which has promoted harmony in the state.
“Once again, I congratulate the governor on his one year in office and also urge him to remain focused on his MORE agenda.” Dr. Idawene concluded.
